There is a lot of buzz about the Carolina Hurricanes this season and that buzz has extended over to include the improved reputation of the pool of prospects the organization has. Those prospects have their first chance of the 2016-17 season to shine this afternoon.
Michael Smith of the Hurricanes web crew traveled with the team and has been providing updates on the main CH.com website as well as Twitter. His game preview is linked below:
When was the last time any Carolina front line had size like Nic Roy, (6’4), Julien Gauthier, (6’4), and Hudson Elynuik, (6’5)? And the best thing about them is that they can score. It will be interesting to see how other teams try to match up.
The next line of Sergey Tolchinsky, Richard Wallmark, and Valentin Zykov should be able to do some damage as well.
The defensive pairings so far include Haydn Fleury and Roland McKeown and then Josh Wesley and Jake Bean.
Alex Nedeljkovic gets the first nod in net.
New Checkers head coach Ulf Samuelsson has a great opportunity to work with some of his future players here.
Perhaps the best news of all is that the games will be streamed. Again, the following is from Michael Smith:
What better way to spend your Friday afternoon than watching Hurricanes hockey? You can do just that through the FOX Sports GO app, which will have live streaming coverage of all Prospects Tournament games. We’ll also be rinkside at Centre Ice Arena to bring you live game updates on @Canes_Gameday later this afternoon.
I will have my thoughts after the game.
