After the Carolina Hurricanes dropped a game to the Buffalo Sabres 2-0 on Tuesday night, they rebounded for a 3-2 shootout win on Wednesday night in Sault Ste. Marie.

Jeff Skinner notched the game-winner with the only shootout goal.

The team jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals by Roland McKeown and Elias Lindholm but saw Buffalo tie the score before the end of regulation.  After a scoreless overtime period, Skinner was the only   shooter to light the lamp in the skills competition.

The win improves Carolina’s preseason record to 3-2-1 with the final exhibition contest to be played at the PNC on Friday night against the Washington Capitals.

Eddie Lack went the distance in this game for the Hurricanes while Cam Ward played the entire 60 minutes on Tuesday night.

Five players hit the waiver wire earlier today as the Canes attempted to assign them to Charlotte.  Michael Leighton, Brody Sutter, Matt Tennyson, Keegan Lowe, and Brendan Woods should soon be working out for the Checkers.  Expect more to be reassigned on Thursday.
