Carolina Hurricanes Make Preseason Cuts

After their second preseason game against Buffalo, Ron Francis and the Hurricanes cut thirteen players to put the preseason roster at 32 people.  Jake Bean and Julien Gauthier were reassigned to their CHL clubs, Calgary and Val D’or respectively.  Aleksi Saarela was returned to Lukko in the Finnish Elite League.  Alex Nedejlkovic, Dennis Robertson, Andrew Poturalski, Valentin Zykov and Jake Chelios were assigned to the Charlotte Checkers.  Brody Sutter, Brendan Woods, Keegan Lowe, Matt Tennyson, and Michael Leighton were put on waivers but will clear and return to Charlotte as well.  Raffi Torres was also released from his PTO.  The full story can be read here on the Carolina Hurricanes website.  None of these cuts will come as a surprise and most were expected.  They probably would have already been made, but with Peters being delayed by the World Cup of Hockey these players were retained so he could watch them play first hand.

Yeah he only played in one preseason game I think. He must have really been stinking it up in practice.
