Hurricanes Sign Michael Leighton To Two-Way, One-Year Contract

Canes add to goaltending depth with signing

The Carolina Hurricanes brought in some veteran help in net with the signing of Michael Leighton to a two-way, one-year contract.  Leighton will earn $700,000 if he plays some in the NHL and $250,000 in the AHL.  It is expected he will be third on the depth chart behind Cam Ward and Eddie Lack.

The 35-year-old goalie has had ups and downs in his career but was solid last season as he complied a 28-8-8 record with a .918 save percentage with Rockford.  For his career record, check out the following link:

It looks like Charlotte could start with three goaltenders this fall as Daniel Altshuller and Alex Nedeljkovic will also be battling for that job. The more the merrier!
